Default How can I tell which parent is masking the grey?

Okay, the Dad was Red eye lacewing[whiteseries] Mom was a violet the clutch was 2 grey male, I am sure you seen the pics, one has light blue cheek patches and the other has grey cheek patches, then there was a violet hen, and 2 female red eye lacewings. Not sure that will help in telling which parent is masking the grey, but thought I would ask.

you would have to pair them with different partners to figure out who is carrying it

Preferably ones you've already had bred so you know exactly what the female is carrying along with the male of the "new pairing"

here's a little bit on the Grey Factor

Quote:
Grey Factor
Gray factor is a color-adding factor. If a budgie has a grey factor, the color grey is added to the budgie's original body color. The grey factor is very strong and overrides the underlying color. Normal yellow-based budgies with a grey factor will be a grey-green color. Normal white-based budgies with a grey factor will be a grey color.
Basic Genetics:
Grey factor - dominant
Normal - recessive

Grey is a dominant mutation so if the violet was the carrier you'd be able to see it. Therefore it must be the lacewing. Mutations that can mask other mutations and colours include: lutino, albino, lacewing, dark eyed clear & double factor spangle
