Arrow Pepito Juan Pablo - is he a recessive pied?

I've been reading up on different types of budgie colourings. There are so many! I think my birdie, Pepito, is a male recessive pied. What do you think? He definitely acts like a male - very sing song-y and happy. Never squawks or is grumpy.

He was going through his molt in these pics so he has some funny pin feathers on the top, but this is his usual colouring now he is fully grown. (when I first got him, at 16 weeks old a year and half ago) he was mostly all yellow -- no bars or markings really of any kind... Then he got older and now this is how he looks and has looked for like a year.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forums!

I agree that your budgie boy is a recessive pied (he has kept the immature colour on the cere and his eyes don't have irises), he is light green in colour and it's possible he is spangle as well (because of the fully white cheek patches), but due to the lack of markings it's difficult to tell.

By the way, I love your budgie's full name!

Welcome to Talk Budgies!

Pepito Juan Pablo is beautiful and I agree with aluz's assessment on his mutation.

It's great to have you with us and please feel free to ask about anything you're unsure of as we'd love to help!

Yay! thank you so much... I am glad my assessment is most likely correct!

He sure is a nice bird. I was always weary of getting birds because I thought they'd be so hard to care for. But Pepito has been nothing but a JOY and quite easy to care for. Still working on getting him to eat veggies/fruits, but I read some tips in the other threads and am going to try again! I really want him to be healthy and happy... I get him lots of toys and sometimes treats, but I know veggies will be good for him once I can convince him to eat them!
