Default Need help with Mutations Please

Hi there,

I would like to know the exact mutations and colours of my 3 budgies, 2 have bonded and I would like to know the possible mutations of their chicks.

These two are the bonded pair.

And this little sweety I'm currently finding a female companion for

If anyone could be so helpful with telling me their mutations and possible chicks mutations that would be so greatly appreciated.

Cheers

The cock of the pair is a normal yellow face cobalt, the hen looks like a mauve opaline spangle but may just be a spangle, hard to tell in the lighting.

the other cock is a double factor dominant pied.

you cannot tell what chicks they will throw unless you know what they are split for, a genetics calculator could help, and lindsey also has helpful genetic outcome info on her website.

Thank you very much. When I got them off the breeders I didn't think to ask what their parents were etc. Oh well I guess it will be a surprise then Well hopefully if we have some luck breeding.

Thanks for your help

I have a different perspective, actually, I believe that the cock is a sky blue sf violet goldenface and the hen is a mauve sf violet (possibly df violet?) greywing spangle. She isn't opaline

The yellow cock is a sky blue goldenface combination pied (can't be df dominant because he has no irises), possibly spangle.

And I mostly agree with you! Though I se a Grey Greywing Spangle hen, I am not seeing any sign of blue to indicate Mauve? And the first male could be a Cobalt or a Skyblue Violet to me....

Unless you separate the pair out (and breeding in a group often leads to serious injuries and lost babies) the chicks could be from either male. No matter how bonded hens will sometimes share the love about....

I have exactly the same blue cock, except for mine is violet and more vibrant looking.

Kobalt Yellowface 1
Mauve/grey spangle dilute (opaline)
Dark green recesive (combination) pied + yellow2 or golden face.

Def no colony breeding here, I have heard some terrible things about it, and I only have a very small aviary, hence only 4 birds.

I put the Cobalt Cock and the Mauve Hen together in a separate breeding cage on Thursday. So hopefully we might have success.

I'm going to post in the breeding section soon for advice on my setup and in general so would love all your advice.

Thanks for all your help i really appreciate it.
