Default Unsure of Genetics

Hello

I brought home a new friend today and if you couldn't tell I've never researched the different genetics and mutations of budgies.

I was just curious what this little guy/girl has in him/her. If anyone could let me know it would be high appreciated. (I apologise if the photos aren't amazing, as I didn't want to get too close to scare Snickers) S/he has a pale yellow face, white chest and base colour on wings, and with a violet colour underneath.

And what age does is best to establish your budgies sex?

Thank you in advance.

From those pics your Snickers looks very much like a young female to me.
Pictures taken in natural lighting (no artificial lighting, no flash from camera) are best to determine gender and the proper colour mutation.
I think your Snickers is a mauve (could be violet too from that 4th pic which is the best in terms of lighting) yellow face type II recessive pied budgie.

Congrats on your new friend Snickers! I completely agree with Aluz, she's a sweetheart!
