Default Outcomes of Breeding a DF Dominant Pied

My female is a mauve DF dominant pied (split for recessive) with SF yellowface type II. If she breeds with my normal violet cobalt, will all their chicks be DF dominant pied?

I read on Little Birdies Aviary that the chicks would all be DF dominant pied. Since my female is also a SF yellowface type II (I think), does that mean her chicks will have a 50-50 chance at having the mutation or not?

What I'm not too sure of is whether they'll be violets. I'm not sure if my male is a SF or DF. How can you tell?

Hi there,

Since the mother is a double factor dominant pied and the father is a normal budgie, all chicks will necessarily be single factor dominant pied.
Some can also be split for recessive pied. Both yellow face and violet are dominant traits so the chicks have very good chances of being visual for it.

I think the difference between single and double factor violet is the intensity of colour. A more deep violet colour would indicate the budgie is double factor.

Thank you for the help! Mutations are tricky, and I've always had a hard time predicting the outcomes of my chicks. I guess only time will tell for sure. It's been years since I've bred budgies, and now I have a new flock of 3. I'm really excited, and hoping to get some unique mutations out of it.
