Hi all
Just pondering on a bird i recently bought for 10
he is an exhibition bird (no fleking)
decent size and feather on him......so i thought, why not? and got him thinking he was a grey.....
BOY was i wrong!
i put him in a show cage and caught up one of my greys.......turns out hes more blue......(i tried this with a dark grey and a light grey)
so i got my cobalt blue......hes lighter......but grey.......and 100% not a sky blue........

i'm confused......whats he clashed as? my dad commented while i was trying to figure it out ans said "call him slash......because he looks a slate colour"

the best description i can give is hes grey.....but blue also.....normal, not pied and that hes got violet/cobalt cheek patches

I will be getting pictures later on

.......i think....after a bit of reading......i have my answer......he might be mauve......will get pictures soon

Got pictures.....
Taken in Natural light.
hoping i can get a few chicks off him, he's handsome
also sticking with the name "Slash"

He's handsome! I think he is grey because his cheek patches are blueish-grey too. If his cheek patches were blueish-violet he would be blue.

I have never seen a slate therefore cannot confirm that

But Slate is a sex-linked mutation a test breed will confirm that

Either way very handsome fellow

thank you.
Either way he is a handsome bird, has a very nice chirp too
He was however a 2014 bird....but 2 years is perfect for breeding then he can retire and be an aviary bird

thank you
one of my friends says hes a grey.....but i know he isn't a grey! i dont want to argue with her either lol!
there is no way he is a 100% grey budgie.....even next to my own greys he's different....

i'll have to find a tall hat that will fit him he's somewhat tame, will sit on my finger

At least on my computer here, he is appearing much more blue than gray. In fact, he looks even more blueish than a mauve. I'm sure mutation experts will be here to weigh in soon. He's a beautiful bird!
