Default Zircons Mutations

When I first got Zirci I was told he was a yellowface sky blue normal. I just took some new pictures and I am unsure if it is the light or not but I am wondering if he could be a yellowface II because he is going through his first molt and in the pics I took today he seems to have more yellow throughout his body. I cannot get close enough in person for him to stay still, only with camera zoom so maybe it is the light.

my other question is after bathing he has black coloring to his chest! I saw this last week and thought maybe he was rubbing on something and I could not find anything in his cage that might cause this. he just went for a bath and I saw it again today so I snapped a pic before he dried. He also looks to have a dark maybe black color on his back near his tail when he preens, I thought the down feathers were white.

I agree that your Zircon is not yellow face type I. The intensity of yellow on the face/head is much richer in colour and from the second photo it really seems the yellow is spreading into his blue feathers, making it a bright greenish colour.
I would also say that he is a sky blue yellow face type II normal budgie.

About the dark feathers after bathing, that's perfectly normal, in fact that's how the feathers look like when wet.

Thank you!! I was not sure as it does not always happen but sometimes he jumps in and out so quickly maybe his feathers don't get that wet. its so neat to watch how they change with a molt!!!!

You're very welcome!
Upon taking a better look, and when comparing the yellow between Zircon and Kiwi, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in terms of colour.
Instead of yellow face type II, I think he is a single factor golden face budgie.

Would it help if I posted a couple more pics of them sitting side by side?

Extra pics are always welcome! Zircon does look more like a golden face to me.
We will see what other members will say about your boy regarding his colours.

I agree with Aluz that Zircon appears to be a goldenface budgie for sure!

They're absolutely adorable together--that last picture is very sweet

Zircon and Kiwi are quite the little lookers!

Goldenface seems more likely with how vivid the yellow is on Zircon's face. I do not claim to be an expert, but I think Zircon is Goldface Type I. The moderators helped identify the colors on two of mine as sky blue goldenface type II, and the body color is almost green, not the lovely blue of Zircon.

ETA: Just when I thought I was getting things figured out! Went back to my thread and yep, I got it backwards. Mine are Goldface Type I although much greener than Zircon.

Actually golden face works a bit differently when compared with yellow face and it only manifests through single or double form.
On single factor golden faces, the yellow will spread over the blue body feathers, while in double factor GF this doesn't happen and the yellow is concentrated on the face/head areas.

Since Zircon is going through his first moult and his blue feathers are being affected by the yellow, he is very likely a single factor golden face budgie.
