Default Am I Violet Gray Lacewing?

Hey everyone! Welcome to this thread, this is my first post so go easy on me!

Today I got my single budgie a companion, they already get along extremely well I'm so pleased! But what is he? The owner of the shop said he was a Lacewing. I understand that Lacewings are quite rare so I wanted to know if he really was a lacewing! I think he is a Violet Gray Lacewing, am I right? Tell me what you think! He could maybe be a Violet Spangle? Images below in links, I'm having trouble uploading images. EDIT; the images are also attached.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new little friend!

I can tell you that your little one is not a lacewing. Due to the markings and pattern on the wings, some people will mistakenly confuse spangle for lacewing.
I think you have a very cute grey spangle budgie there.

If you post better photos taken in natural lighting, we will be able to confirm gender.
From that second photo I'm seeing more of a bluish mingled with white cere and if that is the case then your little one is a girl.

In case you don't know, when bringing home a new budgie, it's best to follow quarantine procedures in order to safeguard you existing budgie's health in case the new bird is carrying an illness. You can still quarantine your new budgie even though they have already met.
You can check this link for detailed info: https://talkbudgies.com/new-budgie-ar...necessary.html

Thank you for the welcome and replying!
I considered a girl too, but out of the photos the cere is quite pinky/blue, hence me thinking boy! When they're more tame it will be easier to get photos in the correct lighting. The breeder I got him from quarantines all his birds before putting them up for sale, so I hoped it will be okay. I will be treating both of the birds with anti parasite spot on in a day or two as my current bird is due an update. I'll get a new cage in asap.

I was thinking spangle too! They have no markings other than cheek patches that are a blue-grey colour. Thanks again!

Hello Saphera and to the forums!

Our of curiosity, do you pronounce your name "Sa-FEAR-a" or "Sa-FAIR-a"?

Anyways, it's great to have you here, as well as your two little budgies

I agree with Aluz's assessment on his mutation--he's a sweetheart

I hope to see more of both of them soon, around here we love pictures!

Meanwhile, be sure to check out the forum's many articles and "stickies" (threads "stuck" to the top of each subforum for easy reference) to ensure you're up to date on the very best budgie care and practices! If you have any questions afterwards, be sure to ask as we'd love to help!

Cheers!

With thanks,
