Default What are the possible results from these pairs?

I have been doing a ton of research on breeding, conditioning my birds etc, but mutations are not my forte! I have a few bonded pairs already, and am wondering what I may get from them?

1. Anzu and Houdini - one mauve, one sky blue.

2. Taz and Celestia - dominant green, all green offspring?

3. Luna and Twilight

Thanks again for the help!

With your first pairing, you will get cobalt blue chicks, some can be yellow face type I while others will be single factor golden face. The male chicks will all be split (carrying the gene in hidden form) for opaline.

On your second pairing, it seems Taz is dark green in colour and I believe Celestia is a cobalt greywing. If that is the case and Taz is also split for blue, then you can have green series and blue series chicks of all colours: light green, dark green, olive green, sky blue, cobalt and mauve. The percentage of getting the medium colours cobalt and dark green is higher than the other combinations. If Taz is split for greywing, you can also have greywing chicks.

With your last pairing, you will have cobalt blue and mauve chicks which may or may not be violet factored. You can have dominant pieds and normal chicks, some can be spangle too. All chicks will be split for recessive pied.

With all of your pairings and depending on what genes they may be hiding, you can get some surprises.

Hi there and to the forums!

I'm glad you've been doing all the necessary research in order to breed your birds successfully, that's great!

Your pairs are stunning and Aluz has covered their possible chick colours splendidly so I won't add anything else

I can't wait to see their chicks and hear about their progress! If you'd like, you can post a breeding journal for your pairs so we're able to stay posted on their progress

If you have any questions after reviewing the forum information, be sure to ask as we'd love to help!

Hope to see you around, and your budgies as well, of course

I forgot to mention that if this is going to be your first attempt at breeding, that it would be better for you to choose just one pair, one who is fully fit and showing the most progress and allow it to breed.
You could easily become overwhelmed by breeding multiple pairs and for a first time, it's best to focus your attention on just one pair and their eggs/chicks, so that you are better able to give your support to the pair, to help the chicks when needed and to closely follow their growth.

In order to be more prepared, be sure to read the information on the sticky threads at the top of the Budgie Breeding main section: Budgie Breeding - Talk Budgies Forums

Thanks for the advice and possible outcomes! I am breeding one pair at a time, and Houdini and Anzu have 5 eggs now! The first is due to hatch this week, can't wait to see if I have any "surprises"!
