HI:
I was wondering if this budgie is a spangle opaline?
Hen is a spangle light violet and male is normal green. These green feathers look like they may be darker than his.

I think it is too soon to tell what mutation this baby is. Spangle is a dominant gene so that is possible. On the other hand opaline is sex linked so the male would have to carry or show the gene.

Its a little to soon to tell the mutation of the chick. Maybe in a week we can help! :)

Thank you. I'm pretty sure she is female. I have discovered that the some of the females are very vocal at an early age. I'll post a picture when she's older.

Just a spangle, no opaline there :)

Could be a violet green, feathers do look quite dark. Is either parent grey?

No. Hen is violet spangle and dad is green normal.

The chick is a spangle but it's not opaline
