Default Mutations of these birds

Hey mutation experts,

I wonder if any of you can give me the mutations of the two little clutches of chicks that Jay & Star had this year, please?

I don't have such good pictures of the other ones, but I can get some over the weekend, but in case anyone can do it from these.....

The first two look like normal sky blue recessive pieds. The third looks like a sky blue single factor dominant pied. Perhaps this means that the first two are in fact double factor dominant pied? I know that df dom. pieds look like recessive pieds a bit. I'm not too sure about Frankie, but does Max have red eyes? Blue looks like a sky blue opaline, perhaps clearflight pied? I'm no expert, but I'm learning!

Hey Emma;

In order:

1. Sky blue, normal, recessive pied
2. Sky blue, normal, recessive pied, YF II
3. Sky blue, normal, dominant pied, opaline, SF violet

What we learned from this clutch: Jay is combination pied (he has to be), and is split for opaline.

Next:

Frankie is sky blue, YF II, normal, dominant pied, fallow, tentative SF violet but I can't tell from that photo
Max is sky blue normal fallow (don't think I see any pied markings on him, right?)
Blue is sky blue, dominant pied, opaline (maybe SF violet but I also can't tell from that photo)

So Jay is a handful: sky blue, YF II, combination pied, /opaline, /fallow normal

Hope that helps

Good first guesses, though

Have you read this link, Emily?

I had not read that yet! Thank you so much for that link! I knew some of these things, but definitely learned a lot from that.

Emily, thanks for your input, you did really well. I suck so much at even trying to get my head around mutations. I don't think I'll ever understand them! Yes, Frankie and Max both have red eyes.

Star, thank you. I have added this to my book. I will attempt good pictures of the babies today but they are at that stage where they're really curious now and I know little Frankie can fly well already so we shall see what happens.

Here's another couple of pictures of Frankie & Max. I need to get more pictures of Blue.

Frankie first.

Max

Starling- since Max has red eyes would this make him a lacewing?

Emily--
Nope, he has red eyes because he's fallow. The fallow mutation causes a diluted body color and faded wing markings along with red eyes. Lacewing, on the other hand, occurs when a cinnamon gene crosses over with an Ino gene, and the resulting budgie is Ino with faint cinnamon markings.

Emma,

I'm pretty sure that Frankie is indeed SF violet.

As for Max, I'm almost certain that it's the fallow washing out his chest and not a pied marking. Are his flight feathers are a very light grey or are they pure white?

He's sky and fallow, possibly opaline (can you get a wing picture?).
