Budgies are confusing and so gorgeous! I've eyed up a lovely grey girl but uncertain what she is and i like to know a little. So she appears to be a very pale grey in the body, her wings have your traditional markings but maybe a smidge lighter. Like her flights arent dark. So does that mean, is it possible, she's a grey with cinnamon wings? Or is she a dilute? Or is she a greywing? The greywing term is very confusing to me as there are those with a slatey grey wing with light markings, normal markings but of a lighter nature to your traditional budgies, the lacewings (which arent your ackowledged lacewings but light wings with lacing - i understand lacewings are albino cinnamon wings, these arent). So what is a greywing please?
Also I'm asking for interest sometimes in specific budgies, but also i just like to know...even if it never manifests into a budgie for me. Just find the genetics interesting and knowing the types is fun!
The second budgie, yes, she's cinnamon, I would say olive green cinnamon
As for the first, I can't see her well enough to determine for sure, but she's definitely not greywing. Her flights are too dark, but they do have some fading. It's possible she's texas cleabody, or maybe she's just a dark cinnamon, but I really can't tell from that photo. Do you have any more pictures of her?
Also, if you're interested in genetics, have you read this article yet?
I'd have thought that a texas cb would have more colour towards tail and vent. I *think* I've got a clearbody (i wrote about her before) but this grey girl doesnt seem to have that same thing. Now i am a newbie so no expertise here but what would make her a clearbody versus some sort of dilute? Is it the dilute body with darker wings? But doesnt cinnamon do that? Just with a warmer brown shade. But overall dilute to colour. Versus a brown wing which has very bright colours and brown wings? Sorry if ive misinterpreted anything...i read A LOT but have little to no experience to base my reading on...so please forgive!
