Default What mutation is Caspir?

I was hoping I could get some opinions on Caspir's mutation.

Is it still skyblue with all that teal?

Thanks so much, Helen. That means a lot coming from you.

I agree too. What you call teal I called turquoise, as I had two budgies with that same beautiful shade of blue. Mine were a normal skyblue and a dominant pied skyblue. They were brothers and both parents were dark green split to blue. These boys had a brother who was a dominant pied dark green. He paired up with a dominant pied cobalt and produced a recessive pied skyblue with the same turquoise hue. According to older books I had back then, that shade is the influence of the green parent(s) who are split to blue. Caspir is absolutely lovely. Is he a baby you raised? What do his parents look like?

Thanks for all the good info, 2many. I bought Caspir from a pet store. I know what you mean about the turquoise. To me, that's not skyblue. But I'm thinking of the actual blue sky. That was throwing me off.

Are there pictures posted of the above mentioned family? I'd like to check them out.

You know, I did find an older picture of them that I have been meaning to scan and post somewhere. Don't know how clear it would turn out but I will try and get that up this week. Bug me if I forget . They were part of my first flock, born in 1989 and 1990.

Edit: dang memory. Ricki (the recessive pied I mentioned) was a cobalt, not a skyblue. Just now thinking that, because dad was dark green/blue and mom was cobalt. One of those duh! moments . But Skeeter and Scooter were the turquoise looking sky blues. I will look for that picture.

I didn't realize you had been breeding that long. You have a lot of experience then. Don't worry, I'll be bugging you.
