Is it possible to have violet over cobalt? because it looks like thats what going on. his strongest and bluest hues are only on his back extending slightly onto his tail, and I can definitely see the strongest violet on the back and sides of his neck.

It is possible that your bird is a cobalt violet. Violet is an additive color, meaning it is added to the base color (blue or green) It is almost impossible to see violet in photos. I have a couple violets and I have to go in and change the color of the photo to show the true colors. Blue birds can have a violet hue on their neck without being violet. That maybe in your cause. You can detect a true violet by looking at their vent. The violet hue is the most vibrant in this area.
