Question A Violet?

I was at Petco and I saw what I believe was a violet. But the confusing thing to me was that it had a cobalt rump.

Here's the front and back. I think that it's a violet though. Any thoughts on this?

hmmm, looks like a violet to me too. the colour can vary over the body, so the rump can look less violet. however when it moults the colour will deepen and may change on the rump...

lovely baby.

My new greywing violet's rump is darker than its belly, same with my greywing skyblue.
Maybe rumps are always darker (and/or less violet)?

Yeah, and what confuses me more is that some, like in the last 2 pics, have a cobalt rump and a skyblue tail. That's even more confusing, at least to people like me. x)

If we take a green, a grey or a blue and then overlay that colour with a light, medium or dark violet shade as if we were painting a picture we would then see different shades again.

Sometimes these violets can only be recognised by the chicks they breed. A sky or cobalt violet may show only a dash of the true colour on its rump.

Yes I see cobalt. I believe these bubs are true violet.
These are my bubs, bred by a sky blue F and mauve M.
