Default Chicks Mutation Question - Pair 2

More chicks! Opinions on mutations appreciated

Here are the parents:

The hen is a YF2 recessive pied, not too sure about the cock? Dominant pied or DF? He is also opaline.

They had a very small clutch of three:

Chick 1 - Male

He is mostly white/yellow, just a little bit of blue around neck and lower abdomen, and rump. All tail feathers are white/yellow.

Chick 2 - Female

Her breast and abdomen are mostly white with some blue here and there, much like dad's but a lot more white. All tail feathers are white/yellow.

Chick 3 - Male

Tail feathers

He is the only one that has blue tail feathers. He also has a lot more blue than the others. His breast and abdomen look much like dad's.

You can see the faint yellow on their masks and wings, just like their mom. They all have white flights.

What do you think?

The cock bird ia an opaline dominant pied

1st chick is a dominant pied
2nd opaline dominant pied
3rd dominant pied
The will all be split for recessive pied

They all have less markings than most dominant pieds, this is sometimes caused by combining dominant pied with clearflight pied

Thanks once again Nev

So does that mean that the dad could be a combination? Which would probably explain his lack of markings and on the chicks?

Corina, your male is a Spangle. He has an iris around his eye, Recessive Pieds do not have an iris.

Sorry...Also, the cheek patches are white, Dominant pieds have violet cheek patches.

Almost everyone agrees, here and on another forum that he is a single factor dominant pied opaline. What do white patches mean? If he was a spangle.. wouldn't his chicks be spangle as well?

More pictures of him:

he has odd markings but i do not think he is spangle, i think it is the opaline playing with them a bit.

all types of pieds can have silver cheek patches, incl dom pieds.

He is definitely not a spangle. A pied's cheek patches can be various shades depending how the pied patches are distributed. If he is a combination of pied types it would be dominant pied and clearflight pied not recessive pied
