Question Sky Blue....

So I've been reading on the World Budgerigar Website, their standards on colors
https://www.world-budgerigar.org/

it say's Sky blue budgies have "Violet cheek patches"

I have a few but Only going to ask about Zeus & Hailey for now

neither one of their cheek patches look Violet. They both appear to be blue but 2 different shades Hailey's looks more cobalt or Navy Blue

Zeus's is Lighter - Assuming because he's cinnamon

then I was reading about Opaline - it says for the Cinnamon Opaline

Primary Wing Flights: Cinnamon with Minimal Body color edge

when I was looking through my pics I realized that with Zeus his sky blue is on his wing markings, Where Hailey's is Black/White like they should be

With this most recent clutch of Zeus's I found out he's split to Opaline - but now I'm starting to wonder if he's not actually Opaline and maybe he just isn't fitting the Normal Opaline description

Here is Zeus

Here is Hailey

I do know I need to stop reading into them so much it only gives me a headache and then I end up in confusion because they're not matching what they're supposed to look like

it also does not help when almost every single mutation has VIOLET CHEEK PATCHES LOL how are you supposed to tell apart 2 very similar birds if half their descriptions match each other

The ideal color and markings are rarely found on a bird... if they were they would all be winning awards

Zeus doesnt look opaline at all to me, he just looks like a normal sky blue cinnamon and his cheek patches match a cinnamon
Alot of males that are split opaline have alot of opalesence too which he seems to have in that pic, but with out actually being opaline

Haileys cheeks look like alot of sky blues too... I think it is just more of a "violet" color compared to say a grey budgie that have more "blue" patches... which vary alot too from bird to bird

so when they say violet cheek patches it doesn't mean Actually violet LOL because every mutation I have (or almost all) that says they have violet cheek patches they're actually navy blue or some lighter shade of blue

because to me this is actually violet the others are just Navy blue lol

Yeah I think alot of it is what we think of when we see a color. And violet does have a shade of blue to it usually

When you look at the cheek patch of a grey budgie though, there is no purple or violet in it at all... it is just a blue/grey shade.

For a greywing they say it should be light violet.. and when compared to the cheek patches of a grey budgie it does have alot of purple/lavender it.

Then just a normal dark green has a lot of violet/blue compared to the light violet greywing

It seems to be more of a comparing colors to other colors, than it fitting the color mentioned exactly

Don't forget that the descriptions on the World Budgerigar Organisation's website are ideal show standards. If every bird matched exactly there would be no competition

that is true

but i would think 2 mutations would at least match some what lol

is the different shades of Cheek patches have anything to do with having other mutations mixed in?

Like how Hailey has no other mutations (at least not visibly) her's are really dark, I have another one that looks just like her only male Visibly he has no other mutations his is as dark as hers

then their is Zeus he's cinnamon his is lighter , then I have 2 other sky blues Both have Dark cheek patches but not as dark as Hailey's but darker than Zeus, they're both Opaline and 1 is also Violet

What a beautiful bird!!
I also see Dark blue when they say violet, but then again mine isn't show quality. I'm glad that I'm not the only one having difficulties!
