Thumbs up Violet Rainbow mutation

I tried to search for a thread already about this but it had too many hits, due to the frequent use of violet and rainbow. So I apologize if this has already been discussed.

When I went to my breeder to buy my second budgie, a female rainbow (usual rainbow), she took me into her kitchen to show me her newest arrivals. From what I understand this is one of the newest or is the newest mutation!

They were violet rainbows!!! I am not talking about the blue violet factor, when I say violet in this case I am talking pinkish purple or light lilac coloring!! In the sunlight their colors are remarkable!!! I have never seen anything quite like these before!

I have already been promised to get a nice couple from their offspring! I wish I had some photos, but I am sure once their quarantine is over and they are set to start breeding she will post some photos when she starts to sell their offspring, so then maybe I can post some photos of them. I have not seen these posted on any of the budgie mutation or color variety sites with photos.

Have any of you seen any of these yet???

Actually you are Violet is nothing but a color adding factor So the bird actually is blue but it has the violet Factor so it looks violet

i've had All different shades of Violet From Lilac (the bird looked pastel like a Easter egg) to Double Factor Violet that matches a Crayola Purple Crayon to a T. and every thing in between

Violet is my favorite color Mutation of the budgies plus purple is my favorite color

I get they're violet

but the correct name for the mutation would be Violet Blue(you'd put which ever blue they are As in Violet Sky blue, Violet Cobalt, etc) Rainbow - and they are Only rainbow if they are a Yellow face(or golden face) blue series Clear wing Opaline

they're still blue series birds and the violet is still only a color adding factor it's not an actual mutation the mutation is the Blue color they are(sky, cobalt, mauve)

I have several varieties of violets in sky and cobalt I have no mauve's because I have no Mauve budgies to start with

I even had a Yellow face Sky violet Cinnamon Opaline - She looked like an Easter egg her colors were all Pastel she was so pretty

I've also had a Double Factor Violet Cobalt - he matched a Purple Crayola Crayon exactly to a T.

Yes they are the rainbow with the yellow face and clear wing opaline. I don't recall any of them except one having any look of the blue factors.

I apologize if the use of mutation is incorrect I am trying to learn all the breeding terms, but I was just saying I have never seen such coloring in any photos I have ever seen online before when showing the different colors out there.

That double factor violet cobalt looking like a purple crayon had to just be gorgeous! I once found a site someone put a link to for colors which showed a very great photo of one similar to that in which you described but probably a bit lighter than the purple crayon, but I could never find that one again. I was telling my breeder about it but could not find the link again to show her the photo.

The "Rainbow Budgie" has been around a long time. It is a composite if several mutations. Do a google search of it, and you will find lots of them.

But beware, a lot of people throw in extra mutations as per their personal preference, so there are a lot of different opinions as to what a real Rainbow budgie really is! LOL

he was absolutely gorgeous but in every picture he came out dark blue but in person you could tell he was not blue (well technically he was but he looked purple in person)

when I get back(getting ready to leave for my daughters 8th Grade Graduation) I'll go through my photobucket accounts and post some pics of my budgies I've had in the past that were violet I've had several different shades and my df was my favorite (I just loved him in general) but He had a close running mate for 1st place of our most favorite mutations(ours as in my family and I lol) and that was Zoe a yellow face cinnamon Opaline violet - - Too bad she wasn't born on Easter she looked Just like a pastel Easter egg

very true, and that is why I go by the world budgerigar standards -since we're working on Rainbows I want them to be what they're supposed to be even if I don't show my birds I still want them to be the correct mutations to be called a rainbow - so I may never actually get a real rainbow since I can't find clear wings lol but gosh darn it I have everything else needed lol
