Oh are those three chicks? I thought two but either way they all look like males
They have smooth purple ceres, little bit of blue around the nares on the yellowfaces and unless that is white instead of blue then they are definitely males

Corina,
there were four chicks, one white face opaline cobalt(gave it to a friends daughter, but they phoned tonight telling me, something is wrong. I go and fetch it, but it was dehidrated and a empty crop). Needless to say, how I feel. The girl wanted the budgie and she did some research and do have other older budgies, but now I do not know if I will give her another one.
Two yellow face opaline cobalt and the dilute opaline grey one. Neville told me all the mutations, because I am not so good trying to tell the mutations.

Oh four chicks then

How old are they? from the pictures my guess is 4 - 5 weeks old? which would be to young too be removed from their parents just yet and would explain why the chick had an empty crop and was dehydrated as they are still a little dependent of their parents at that age and not completely weaned yet. This is also the time when they learn lots from daddy

But you probably already know that? either way those are some lovely chicks, they remind me a lot of one of the clutches I had, they were also four opaline males that are almost 2 years old now

Corina,
yes the eldest one was 6 weeks last Saturday and he was eating on his own, but you know that you have to check on them and change the feeders to suit them in the beginning, but I think she was to busy with school work, she does have anorexia, so I think she does not think about eating and then do not check that good on the birdy. The others are eating and drinking on their own and the grey one, I took away from the parents yesterday, because they did start to bite the other ones and I did not want him also to be bitten. They are younger, but happy and sitting on the perch(sleeping) and eat seed and millet on the base of the cage. so sweet to watch them. This is not my first budgies breeding and I had handreared a few.

Oh, I see now which ones you're keeping...good choice...I'm also now getting a large number of opaline blue babies...and with some spangles and/or yellow-face added to such opaline do really give nice looking birds!

Not having checked on the parents...are they of show-type?...as the babies do not appear to indicate a "crown-throw" in the upperface feathers...well, not yet...

...I'm (trying) getting more into the "show-breeding" now...(as you may come to hear, from the above)...

All of the best then, for those beauties that you're keeping!
