Cock
Petey is a normal, green split for cinnamon, ino and opaline
Hen
Stella is a opaline,blue,violet
#1 opaline, grey, violet, with some yellow flecking on one side of it's face and body.
#2 opaline,cinnamon,violet
#3 This is the mystery chick. At first glance you may think it is a normal blue maybe violet. But take a second look and you see it is different. One wing is yellow and dark dusty grey with a patterning that make me think of recessive pied. On the same side its cheek patch is normal dark violet with black spots. The other wing looks normal black and white. But that sides cheek patch has more white with a diluted violet patch and light grey spots. The chick's belly is mostly blue but it has a strange green patch on one side. I have my guess on what the chicks mutation is but I would like to hear what everyone says.
Pretty birds!! Genetics fascinate me. I'm curious about the mutations/splits, etc. I have Tiels as well and have learned quite a bit about them. As far as yours go.. do you know what the parents were or did you figure out the splits based on what type of chicks they had? And also, if neither of those, are there tell signs of what they are split for, similar to Tiels for some splits?
I'm not sold on the half sider idea. All the half siders I have seen are split right down the middle. The green patch and one yellow wing makes me think yellow face maybe.

As for Petey I know he is split for cinnamon and ino because I bred his parents. But I didn't know he was going to be split for opaline. Petey's father is lutino so that mutation masks many other mutations like opaline. I'm not sure of Stella's genes though. I bought her from a pet store.
I just love these "strange" birds!! I also want to know how is it possible to get a grey from that pairing, because as I understand it grey is a dominant colour and you didn't mentioned anything about grey in the parents. Petey looks like a dark green to me and with the visual violet you can get mauves. Just wonedring?
...I would have guessed Petey being an "olive (DF)" green bird....
...but with the grey chick, it could be that this inhereted grey factor is what makes the dad look DF green... I had a similar DF-looking Blue series bird, which turned out giving grey chicks...so the DF blue (mauve-guess) may well have been Cobalt or Mauve WITH THE GREY FACTOR added...
..would there be any pictures from the side...maybe such will help the gene experts, as I don't have a clue on this one cute lill birdie!... (but I also doubt it being a half-sider)...
Enjoy..hope we all hear more soon from the others!
PS - ..can it be a green bird split for blue?; where the "blue" became the majority body colouration?...maybe it will still change...with age...
