What color is Ironman?

Greetings! I am having difficulty understanding color/mutations of budgies beyond the common greens and blues (each of which I have) :o. Even after reading the stickies, I'm having trouble :S.

The pics are of Ironman, the budgie that started it all in my household . He found us while we were out walking about two months ago. From these pics, can someone please tell me what color/mutation he is?

I think he's a clearwing dark green. https://www.****************/colorsguide.html#dilution

But best to wait for Nev. :)

I don't think his body color is bright enough for a clearwing. To me he looks more like a greywing dark green

He's very handsome!! Lucky you :)

I agree with nev, certainly looks like a greywing to me.

Thank you! I was thinking a type of greywing, too. Just not sure about the type of green on his belly and back. :D.

..very nice green bird!....almost a "mustard green" isn't it....

..tell us more, how did "he find you...while walking"...was he lost, and now found a new home with you?

..my Shiny looks almost like him!...Nev judged this one a Green-Greywing Dilute ('cause mom is dilute)...I guess "Ironman" has brighter green body colour shade than mine...thus "Ironman" judged not "dilute"...will this be correct Nev?

Hi Jaco! He is more of a highlighter/neon green on his back and belly. My hubby and I were out for a regular morning walk w/our neighbors when he flew RIGHT in front of us from under a parked car. He lit on a tree branch (w/great difficulty because his wings had been clipped). I couldn't get him to 'step up' (remembering that command from 40 years ago when a childhood friend had a budgie) but he did buzz around us, pecking at the ground. We think he was VERY hungry and wanted us to feed him, associating people w/food being he was obviously somewhat tame. My husband threw his shirt on him to catch him. No one answered our 'found' signs, so we now have 3 budgies because we became SOOOOOOO attached to him, and felt compelled to get him flock mates.

Ironman - well my husband, who has an extremely quick, dry goofy sense of humor, was standing next to the cage we had immediately bought for him and I think because he was wondering what this bird's history was, said in his closest Black Sabbath imitation said 'I AM IRONMAN', as if speaking for the budgie. LOL!! That became his name at the time because we were sure he was a temp house guest - that someone would be missing this bird horribly! Now it's his permanant name.

Your budgies are beautiful, too!

Yes Laila,

...what a way to get a name...but I'm sure he's pretty happy to have found your home...looks like he's become a very fortunate bird!

Glad he's got some "flock mates/friends" to keep him company!....

All of the best enjoyment with these little ones...
