What is this mutation?

One of my babies is stumping me. I'm leaning towards a Yellow Face 2 DF spangle with suffusion, but I don't know if it is possible for this.

Mother: Type II Yellow Face Opaline Spangle Cinnamon Sky Blue
Father: Type II Yellow Face DF Spangle male
Siblings from past clutches:
DF Spangle (blue series) / Opaline Cinnamon
Type II Yellow Face DF Spangle
Type II Yellow Face Spangle / Opaline Cinnamon

The other baby in this current clutch is looking to be a DF spangle blue.

You can't see it very well in the photo's, but the feathers are all a soft lemon. There are no coloured feathers anywhere so far, though it still needs feathers on its front.

Your chick is intriguing. She does look like a sf spangle pied, doesn't she? (Spangle markings, clear areas.)

Don't you think her head markings are too dark for her to be opaline?

Perhaps both parents are split to recessive pied??? (RPs, as well as opalines, have white down.)

I assume you know that if the chick were df spangle, you wouldn't/shouldn't see any head or wing markings. So by "suffusion," I assume you're referring to the head and wing markings.

Attached is a picture of my YF1 df spangle hen. (She is YF1 with yellow body suffusion. She has no head or wing markings.)

I agree with Susan, it is not a DF spangle :)

Are you 100% sure one of the parents is a df spangle? The chick is a yellowface recessive pied. If one of the parents is a df spangle the chick is also a sf spangle, but some of the markings look a bit off for a spangle so thats why I asked :)

FYI, Lindsey, I made major edits to my post while you were posting. :P

I see your point about the spangle markings being "off." Her head markings don't look spangle, do they? Do you agree they don't look opaline, either?

I'm glad that you two are confused too!

I did consider pied, since the markings of her wings are 'patchy', but none of the pairs other chicks have ever shown signs of pied... Though I have wondered, since the father and one of the older siblings have eyes with no rings.

The reason why I suggested the suffusion was because it is the only thing I know of that can go with DF spangle to show color. Of course, she may not be DF spangle, as you guys are saying.

I'll post photos of the entire 'family', just to help clear up anything.

I don't have anything new to add, but want to ask if you know the parents of the DF spangle (yellow)? Is it possible for a DF Spangle to mask RP?

No Dries, I don't. The downside of buying from a pet shop. It would make sense if he was masking it or split to it though.

I think a df spangle can mask most anything. I know it doesn't mask YF, because I have a YF1 df spangle who's yellow.

OK, thanks. There is so much to know!
