Smile My first English budgie pair!

Hi everybody!

It is with great excitement that I went to go and choose and fetch my pair today. It looks like a Cinnamon Sky Blue Recessive Pied female and a Normal Sky Blue Yellowface II Male. (Please correct me if I am wrong. Just need to know what I can get out of the pairing haha)

They are already preening each other and have found the food and water and are chirping away so I am so happy about that. Can't wait till they are comfortable enough for me to start handling them.

Still deciding on names for them but should be along the lines of aircraft names so that'll be fun. The names Lancair and Cirrus are sticking for now haha.

Please excuse that background in the pics XD

As far as I can see, you are pretty correct with the mutations. I'm not super knowlegeable in that area but I know a recessive pied when I see one! (They're my favourite mutation!) She is gorgeous btw! Both are very regal looking! Have you bred budgies before?

Hey CassiesCritters! Thanks you! She is so gorgeous I know. I might get her brother(looks just like her) at a later stage to maybe put with a Lutino Hen that I might get in the next few months but we will see.

No I have not bred before but this is why my reading up and researching has been extensive as well as I have joined the local budgie breeding and exhibiting club and have support and expertise from them as I go along. Also I am not rushing at all. I have lots and lots of time before my Hagen vision boxes come from overseas haha.

Good to know that you are doing research and getting support from experienced breeders I hope all goes well and that there are no complications! I also noticed in the picture that the birds are sitting on a wooden dowel. I suggest switching this out for a natural wood perch to promote circulation and exercise in the feet, and to prevent bumble foot or pressure sores

Will definitely look forward to seeing pictures of the young ones when they arrive! Do you have any idea what kind of mutations you may get? Yellow faced recessive pieds would be awesome. However like I said, I'm not super knowledgeable with genetics so I wouldn't have a clue what the offspring could potentially be haha.

Ah yes don't worry. I am actually going to cut those dowels shorter and put them sideways and then put naturals in the cage too. The cage is a little bland right now but in the next month I'll do a cage overhaul (Already ordered my breeding stand for that cage so I can put 3 cages on it). So it'll look more natural and be better for the budgies once I'm done "renovating".

I'm looking into the mutations. The cinnamon may carry over from the female but I THINK there might be yellowface recessives and those will look gorgeous. Will update once I have gone more scientific into it haha

Your two new English Budgies are beautiful!
Your female looks very much like my sweet little Scooter.

Lancair and Cirrus are absolutely stunning and make a beautiful couple

I agree with your assessments of their mutations, but I'm not sure if Lancair is yellowface I or II--his blue seems a bit too blue to have yellow in it. Do you have other photos of him?

Congratulations on your first English pair!

Default Update!

What a happy little couple I have here. They are so good to each other. Always preening each other and kissing etc.

Here is a pic of Lancair tweeting out to Cirrus (who is clearly hard to impress).

Ah so happy to have budgies again
