Default MJ Update

Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't been around recently with work and Christmas and of course her highness I've been super busy. I thought it was time for an update though!

MJ is doing great she's gained loads of confidence and I'm now definitely her favourite person hehe millet has been a great success but still no dice on the veggies or even small amounts of fruit.

Her hand training is coming along well and I haven't been bitten yet which is a plus! she's so into the routine she jumps onto her swing and calls for me when it's time and we are down to a tiny bit of millet as a lure yay! We are moving on to attempting step up soon since I'll be off work for the holidays and have more time when's she's feeling active.

I've gotten some great pics on my camera recently I'll upload soon!

How is everyone doing?
Prepared for the holidays?

Dani & MJ

Thanks for the update! I am glad that things are going so well with MJ. Your journey sounds similar to mine with Lemon Drop, although I got lucky that she took to pellets right away. Best of luck with the taming and bonding!

Thanks everyone for your kind words! I'm very happy with her progress so far and can't wait until she steps up and earns her daily freedom! It still takes quite a while before she goes back to the cage herself once she finally decides if she wants to go out that I can't let her out more than twice a week at the moment. Due to never being clipped she's quite the aerial acrobat already! ****

After the holidays I would like to get her a new large cage as I'm just not impressed with the quality of her current cage and would rather use this one as a quarantine than a full time home going forward. What do you think of the cages I'm looking at?

Does anyone have any tips for moving your budgie to a new home? Do I just dismantle the cage while she's out flying?

Thanks as always for all your advice!

I like the first cage you linked much better than the second one.

Moving budgies from one cage to another doesn't have to be difficult.

Remove everything (including food and water dishes) from the current cage except for one perch.
Set up the new cage as you want it.

Put the cages side by side with the open doors aligned.

Generally, within a short amount of time, the budgie will move of its own accord over into the new cage. (You can add an enticement of a millet sprig in the new cage if you wish!)

Yeah I've been leaning towards that one too! It's a great size and will have space for a friend eventually!

That does seem relatively easy as the door of her current cage should open into the new cage with no trouble. I'll give it a go and update you on the move in a few weeks! Now I need to find lots more toys and perches for her Palace.

Thanks!
