Default Petrie

hi, im new.

this is petrie (pea-tree-land before time character) purchased 4-9-18.
i was told this was a male because of the blue sara?
i picked him because he looked more active than the others and i loved his colors.

so far he seems to be very tame and is content wherever he is.
the first day he seemed pretty freaked out, did alot of panting,
but that subsided by the next day. he doesnt bite but he is very quiet.
not alot of chirping. every now and then youll hear small peeps.

im looking forward to being a bird buddy.
glad to be part of your forum

Hi! to Talk Budgies

Petrie is adorable!

The pictures aren't clear enough for me to see the color of the cere accurately.
Is the cere a royal blue color or a very light whitish-blue?

My computer is showing a very light whitish-blue which would indicate female.
An in-focus close-up picture of the cere taken in natural light with no flash and no direct sunlight would be helpful to accurately determine Petrie's gender.

Be very careful that any plants you have in the room where Petrie is enjoying out-of-cage time are budgie-safe.

Petrie is so cute, and I love his name! I remember watching that movie over and over and over again.

The cere is a nice deep purple colour, indicating that he is most definitely male.

As more time goes by, he'll settle in nicely and you should hear much more chirping from him. He just needs time to adjust to his new home and surroundings. Try not to freak him out too much, you want to create a strong and trusting bond between you two.

Thanks for posting the additional picture.

Petrie is most definitely a very handsome little male budgie!

You might wish to start an "on-going" picture thread in the Budgie Pictures section of the forum so you can keep us up-to-date on your little cutie.
