Talking New babies

Hey all,

It's been a while since I've made a post here but I would like to introduce to you all my new babies. Unfortunately, my girl Sunshine passed away on New Year's day leaving our boy Bluebell on his own. 3 months later and these two little babies have joined the family

We're still not clear on their names or whether they'll grow to be boys or girls. As it is, they're called Hamlet and Nimbus, although this might change.

They're so cute! To me (though I'm not very good at sexing budgies) the one on the left appears to be a girl and the one on the right could potentially be a boy? I look forward to seeing more of them!

Your new budgies are very cute.
There is no doubt - the white one is a female and the gray is a male.

I trust you have them both quarantined away from Bluebell?

Quarantine means housing the new bird in a different cage in a different room than the current bird (as far away from the room the current bird is in as possible) for a period of 35-45 days.

Budgies mask symptoms when they are ill. Symptoms may not show up for over two weeks.
Often you will not even realize your bird is not well. Many budgie illnesses are airborne which is why you need to quarantine your new bird in a completely different room.

It is also a good idea to always take a new budgie in to see an Avian Vet for a "well-birdie" check-up. This allows you to develop a good relationship with the vet and the vet can establish a baseline for your bird in case of any future illnesses or injuries.

Congratulations on your new additions!
