My new budgie. A rescue. Anyone know the mutation. Assuming male?

Congratulations on your rescue! He is beautiful. Yes, he is a boy, and is a dark eyed clear budgie or a double factor spangle budgie. How old is he? If he's at least a year old, he's a dark eyed clear as that mutation keeps the immature cere colour and lack of iris rings

Thank you. I also thought DECY or double factor spangle. I dont know his age. If decy then male, correct? But if double factor, also male? Guess will know more in a few months to see if iris and leg color changes, correct?

He is a handsome bird! I am still trying to understand mutations. How do you know that he is not a lutino?

not a lutino - because of dark eye color.

Since I don't know how old he is - in the event that he is a double factor spangle, will the cere change and do we know if he is a boy?

He is definitely a boy Yes, if he is a double factor spangle his cere will change to blue eventually. If after several months you see no change, then he is a dark eyed clear
