As some of you may know, my little Kiwi passed away in September. For the first few weeks, it was tough for Birdie. Birdie would mimic Kiwi's behaviors, call out for Kiwi, and whenever I would leave the room, Birdie would immediately call for me.
As we both adjusted to the new normal, I decided to get Birdie another friend.
And its true, all birds are really different. Azeezu, always wanted to explore the world outside the cage during quarantine, while Kiwi and Birdie never did.
Both Birdie and Azeezu are doing great. There first introduction wasn't the same as when Kiwi met Birdie, but they have become great friends.
I love that Birdie has a friend to fly with now (Kiwi was clipped before we got her and never got the chance to really fly, which breaks my heart even today).
They are now eating carrots, kale and broccoli, which is really exciting! (Azeezu was always biting the cage in certain spots, so I started putting veggies in those areas).
I also got a new cage yesterday, the Prevue F040.
It needed a good cleaning when we got, but other than that, its great! I'm not too sure how to keep the side doors closed as Azeezu will surely find out they open. I'm also figuring out how to set everything up since there is so much room. I really love it.
Here are a few pics (see attached).
1. What gender is Azeezu?
2.What mutation is Azeezu?
3.What can I use as a seed guard for this cage?
Your new little friend is adorable and I love the name. I知 glad Birdie has a new friend and all is going well. I believe your little Azeezu is a little boy, but wait for the experts to confirm. As for mutation, I知 not even going to attempt that one as I know nothing at all about that topic. I hope we値l see more if Birdie and Azeezu.
Oops, I知 so sorry Ms Azeezu. Please forgive me for calling you a little boy! I should致e known and not commented given I know I have terrible eye sight and a phone that doesn稚 tend to show colours accurately. Regardless, she痴 beautiful and I know she値l be extremely happy with you and Birdie.
I put a sheet on the floor under my Prevue Hendryx F040 and F050 cages.
It is very easy to move the cage(s), roll up the sheet(s) to take outside and shake off the seed and pellet debris.
Otherwise, you can look on Amazon for mesh seed-guards for the cages.
I find seed-guards to be more trouble than they are worth and when you try to remove them the seed debris falls on the floor anyway.
You'll need to get clips for the side spring-load doors on the cage for safety.
Thank you everyone! The new cage has made such a difference (and I'm using zip ties for the side doors). Both of them (especially Birdie) have never been happier! I've also noticed they are not as scared of new things as much in the larger cage. And they are both now using the bird bath they never used before. Maybe it has to do with having more space... Anyway here's another cute picture of Azeezu on their Christmas tree!
Azeezu is so sweet and what a great picture. I知 so pleased they池e getting along so well and that Birdie is so happy with her new buddy. I知 very much looking forward to following their journey together, and of course, seeing lots of photos (please).
