So after a busy spring and summer on this side of the hemisphere raising lots of baby birds for the local wildlife hospital, and after the tragedy of little baby Coconut I decided it was time to take a break from bird rescue and just settle down with Kowhai for a while.
Then I got asked to take in just one more. I didn't know if I could handle another after so recently losing another bird, but it melted my heart. I've dubbed it "Tio".
It was hand raised but it's previous owner had 'clipped' it's wings - as in they took one of the wings and snipped all the feathers off as close to the base as possible(!!?!!). Luckily no blood was lost but this lead Tio to crash and continuously injure it's cere.
Happily it's cere will heal and I just have to wait for it's right wing to molt and get proper feathers again.
Tio's being quarantined and been in my care 2 weeks now.
From what I can research Tio is a recessive pied violet or grey. I don't know it's age or gender, but know it is very young, maybe 5 months?
