Default My Little Bit of Sky.....

Well, it's been almost a year since our beloved Tweety crossed the rainbow bridge, and I've finally had the courage to get a new feathered buddy. Everybody, meet Skylar! Training is taking a bit longer this time around, but he was a little clown in the petstore, that's why we got him. Just hope that personality comes roaring back

Michelle,

Skylar is a beautiful little budgie boy!

I recommend you remove the wooden dowel perch in the cage and replace it with natural wooden perches of varying diameters to help prevent pressure sores.

Pressure Sores

The information in this link will give examples of better options for perches:

Essentials for a Great Cage

Best wishes with your darling new friend!

We are in the process of preparing natural wood perches, still green at the moment. He has comfort perches right now (varying widths) that have been used by 5 other birds and never a pressure sore. Once he's trained, he'll only be in the cage for sleeping and when we're out of the house for the day.
