I have two dogs, and it is a little different than if we had none, but it's not impossible. When the birds are flying about, I keep the dogs outside in the yard (which is fenced
) or in their kennels.
I keep the cages up and away from the dogs so there is no way they could be tipped over.
One of my dogs is elderly and completely blind and deaf, so of course she's a bit easier to manage with the birds than my other dog
My other dog is scared to death of the cockatiels though, because they're so loud
she's scared of cars, thunder, rain, balloons and people wearing hats, so she really doesn't bother the birds.
It depends on the dog. I know my dogs would never attack my birds, but I still take precautions because instincts could kick in.
My family gets along great with three birds, two dogs and a cat. It's not impossible to do
