Pumpkin pie revisited
This was a post I did last year. Thought I would get the recipe over to the recipe group section. It is by far the best pumpkin pie I ever made. The crystallized ginger on top puts in in its own class :).
Crust 8oz gingersnaps 2Tbls sugar 1/2tsp Ground ginger 4Tbls melted butter pinch salt put all in food processor and grind until fine Press in pie plate - bake 10 mins 350 degrees filling 15oz pumpkin puree 1 cup sour cream 1 cup sugar 1-1/2tsp cinnamon 1tsp Ground ginger 1/2tsp nutmeg 1/4tsp ground cloves 3 eggs beaten 1tsp vanilla Beat all together until smooth pour in shell bake 350 degrees for 45 - 50 mins...until set topping 1- 1/2 cups whipping cream 3/4 cup powder sugar 1/2 cup sour cream beat cream and sugar to stiff peaks add in sour cream. Sprinkle crystallized ginger on top and serve. And loosen your pants :D Recipe is from Cuisine at home. and a whopping 593 calories per serving. But the taste is incredible. So eat a piece and go run a marathon __________________ |
I just read your recipe out loud to Vickie and we both are thinking we might give that a whirl for next Thursday....;)

Nice. You will not be disappointed :). I thought the crystallized ginger may be too spicy for the grandkids but surprise, they loved it too.

Master 2 loves crystallized ginger and the pickled ginger you get with the sushi too. I might have to try this recipe, though I have never understood the fascination Americans have with Pumpkin Pie ... now if it was Apple Pie ... :D

The problem with trying recipes like this now that we're living in Australia, is finding the right type of pumpkin puree. You can't buy it canned and you can't make it cuz the ones they grow here aren't the same and I think they'd make the pie taste funny!! The only way to get real pumpkin pie is at Costco where it's the same exact pie they sell in American Costco's. It's good enough to make my husband happy and not so homesick though.

Alie you can get the tinned pumpkin from Myers Gourmet section too, we have bought it and it worked perfectly.:D

Okay, so if the secret is in the pumpkin. Just which tinned pumpkin am I trying to find?
