Some varieties never get an obvious iris ring. Recessive pieds are one and it seems likely your pied either is a recessive pied or a combination of recessive and dominant pied.

Aspen is a yellow face 1 opaline. My screen isn't accurate for some colours, but she looks mauve to me. She could be a dark cobalt or a blueish grey in reality...

So, he got the grey from his mother, but it seems the violet has pretty much masked all the usual grey signs - cheek patch and tail colour. And the fallow reduced his body colour enough to hide it...

Hi there, a rainbow is a combination of several mutations, but Violet is a mutation of it's own. You can't make it, you need a bird with the violet gene if you want to breed any more violets.
