I only tend to replace mine every couple months, though my hen tears through one in just a few days. They're not awfully expensive but I don't have the money to replace them as often as she destroys...

Welcome! :D I agree with Faerybee- I think unless your bird is startled/scared or something, it would be unlikely to just fly up to the beams and stay up there. Watching budgies you will generally...

Bird likes sitting in the dark

So, one of my bird's games when she's having out of cage time is to fly up the hall to the guest bathroom where I keep the cats' litter boxes. There's a big mirror over the sink that takes up most...

I have a snuggle hut- not sure if it's made of the same material (I've never noticed her getting stuck or caught on the fibers), but I'll add that my hen doesn't actually go in it either. Mostly...

My budgie mostly likes the palm leaf and vine toys- they are crunchy and fun. I can't seem to get her to go after the harder wood or coconut pieces in her cage.

But she does use the calcium perch...

Holy cow! That is terrifying...I didn't think a hawk would come and attack a bird through a window, you tend to assume that they wouldn't come into the house like that!

It seems unlikely that a...

I am not an expert but it looks like he may well be trying to court her- following her around, the chirping, head bobbing, and the moves toward her face (to try to touch beaks or regurgitate food)...

A new experience- open window

So it's a beautiful spring day today, and I got home from work early and decided to open the windows. There's a good breeze going, so I just opened one window in each room about three-four inches,...

I haven't heard of a bird getting ill from not bathing. Just scruffy. :)

For the mist bath, aim above his head so the mist falls down like rain. Did you put the bird bath in the cage and leave...
