Administrator – (Admin)
Administrators monitor threads/posts to to ensure they are displayed in the correct forum and are in compliance with Site Guidelines.
Admins have the ability to move, edit and/or delete threads and posts and can edit users' information upon request (e.g. usernames and signatures)
Avatar – An avatar is the small picture that appears next to a member's username on each post
An avatar can be changed through the Member's User Control Panel (CP)
Ban - A ban occurs when a member does not follow the forum Site Guidelines and is suspended from forum access
Depending on the severity of the situation, a ban can last a week, a month or longer - on up to a permanent ban, which is never lifted
Fid - This term is often used on Talk Budgies, but may not be familiar to many new members
Fid stands for: "Feathered (or F urry Kid"
Members frequently call their birds their "fids", (feathered kids)
Infraction – Infractions are points levied by staff against members who have violated the forum’s Site Guidelines
If a member receives too many infractions their account may be banned
To avoid possible infractions, please review the forum rules
Karma – The karma system is used to reward members for good posts
To award karma, click on the yin-yang symbol at the top right of the post

Moderator – (Mods)
Staff position in which the individual monitors threads/posts to ensure they are displayed in the correct forum and are in compliance with Site Guidelines
Post – This term refers to "posting" a message
The initial message in a thread and all subsequent replies are called "posts"
Profile picture – A profile picture is the picture displayed on a member's User Profile Page
Profile pictures can be changed through the User Control Panel (CP)
Rep Power – Rep power is the amount of karma points a member "gives" the recipient
A member receives one rep power when the 50 post mark is reached and gains one rep power for every 2500 posts, 1000 karma points, and each year on Talk Budgies
Signature – A signature is comprised of the words and/or picture shown at the bottom of each post.
Please review the Site Guidelines for the allowable size signature for your User Group
Signatures can be changed through the User CP
Smilies – Smilies are little pictures that can be added to a post, such as , , , etc
Smilies are also known as "Emoticons"
Spiders – At the bottom of the forum where the users currently on-line are listed, a list of the number of "spiders" currently on the forum is included
A "spider" crawls through the World Wide Web collecting information (they do not collect personal information such as passwords, email, etc.) and place the information on search engines such as Google
For example, when someone Googles “Info about Budgie Diet”, a spider may come on Talk Budgies, collect information (from threads) and include the information as one of the search results
Sticky - A sticky is a thread found at the top of a forum or sub-forum.
The particular thread is one the staff has determined to be especially useful to members
For easy access, the thread is "stuck" at the top of the forum
Super Moderator – (Super Mods)

Super Moderators have the ability to move, edit and/or delete threads and posts
Thread – A thread is the term used for a string of posts discussing a specific topic
Troll – a person who registers on a forum and posts in ways that upset members
The main goal of a troll is to provoke controversy, create stress and anxiety and cause trouble
Please report any/all posts in violation of the forum's Site Guidelines so the TB Staff can take action

User CP – User Control Panel Allows a member to change specific options, such as time zone, signature settings, Private Message settings, etc.
Accessible from the top of each page by clicking “User CP”
Username – The name (User ID) chosen during the registration process.
A registered member must have a User ID to log onto the Talk Budgies forum.
A member is not allowed to create multiple User IDs on the forum.
User Title – The user title can be found under the member Username
The User Title changes upon incremental amounts of posts.
At 1000 posts, a member is allowed to have a custom user title, which can be edited in the User CP.
Wings – Wings appear under a member's User Title
