  1. Taming and Bonding
My budgies have already been eating millet off of my hand for several months now, but they are still afraid of me and are only brave enough to approach me when I have millet to offer. So what do I do now? Sincerely, Kerri
  2. General Budgie Talk
Hey budgie lovers and experts! I just got a new budgie yesterday, hoping to put her in my other budgie's cage after quarentine and introductions, but I'm not sure when the right time is. She is very scared today, I have her in a small cage because it is only temporary. The problem is that she...
  3. Taming and Bonding
I am wondering what to do next with my budgie's training. I have had it for a month and a bit. He lets me pat him on the chest and back and he will get on my finger willingly. He is quite familiar to his surroundings and chirps a lot. Anybody know what I should do next?
  4. Taming and Bonding
My budgie will get on my finger and stay on it but if I move my finger a bit away from his/her perch (idk gender yet), he/her jumps of and goes back to the perch. Is this because I haven't trained it enough or is it scared? I've been training/taming my budgie for 3 weeks now.
  5. Taming and Bonding
So first I wanna say we've never owned a budgie before, we've had these 2 budgies for almost a year however a lot of mistakes have been made in the process of taming them i'm not sure what to do anymore. My sister got the first budgie (male, 3 m.o.) around a year ago but they gave it to her in a...
  6. Taming and Bonding
So my neighbors were moving out and couldn't keep their budgies anymore so they gave them to our family since i've already got a Parrotlet and have a lil bit of bird knowledge but it's clear they were more decoration than pet as they're terrified of people beyond belief, i've been trying for...
  7. Taming and Bonding
What's kickin', little chickens? I've been working on taming my budgies from the time I acquired them which was several months ago, now. It didn't take much time to see some real progress being made, however, I feel as if our progress has been at a standstill for quite some time now... Within...
  8. Taming and Bonding
I need help! I have a 14 week old handfed English budgie that we have had for about 3 weeks now. He came to us with a respiratory infection and clipped to the point that he couldn’t even flutter. With that said, bonding has been hard because I have had to give the poor babe medicine almost...
  9. Taming and Bonding
Hello everyone! A few years ago, maybe 2 or 3, my family and I adopted 3 budgies that were rescued from a family who had young children and couldn't care for their budgies. They were very timid and scared of us, but they seemed very happy together after we bought them a very large cage with...
  10. Housing for Budgies
hello everyone! I am the proud mama of 2 6-week old English budgies. I know post-attachment that I should have just gotten 1 at a time, but since I can't (and won't) change that now I was wondering if it would be best to put them in separate cages to make training and bonding to me easier? Would...
  11. Training Journals
Day 1: Bert loves millet, it's very obvious. He seems very food driven and curious (tried both romaine and cucumber; a no on the cucumber). He paced back and forth and made a lot of calling chirps (loud!) to the wild birds outside once we got him in the cage (that was an ordeal). Saw him eat the...
  12. Taming and Bonding
I've had my budgie, Haven, (female) for almost a year now. She used to be very social and let people hold her all the time. After about a month, she started pecking my finger when I held her. I looked it up and trained her out of it. Now she hates being held, and has for months. I have been...
  13. Taming and Bonding
Hello, I'm extremely new to world of birds and budgies, I recently got a budgie (Charlie)*a month or two ago (9 weeks old) Everything was fine, I managed to tame him and he was extremely affectionate (Usually rolling around in my hand and cuddling), It took me a few weeks to tame him and get him...
  14. Taming and Bonding
hello! two of my budgies are a bit older... they are three. I could not tame them when they were young for many reasons. since most birds have to be young to be tamed and such now that they are older can I still tame them? when they were younger they knew the little bit they sat on my finger let...
  15. Taming and Bonding
I have a rather interesting situation. I'm a new budgie owner, and I've had Lemon for about 6 weeks now. He's from a pet store, so not hand-tamed. In fact, he's rather afraid of hands after having his wings clipped a few weeks ago. I'm still working on the hand-taming, but I've recently realized...
  16. Other Birds
Hi everyone, It has been 6-7 years since the last time I had a budgie or any other pet. After that long break I decided to have a cockatiel to get a brand new experience after having budgies because I have read so many positive articles about their personality being so friendly and kind of...
  17. Taming and Bonding
Last week I bought a young budgie, about 2 or 3 months old from a breeder. He was not hand fed or tame. He was living in a cage outside with other budgies. I brought him home and for the first day left him alone but by the second day I started to spend time with him. He never seemed upset with...
  18. Taming and Bonding
Hi, I bought Bert 4 weeks ago from a local pet shop, but I'm really struggling with him and feel like he's very unhappy. He's approx 9-12 weeks old (pet shop was confident about this, and he still has head bars and black eyes). I'm out at work from 9am-6pm (radio left on), but I spend every...
