Hi;

. Hen is yellow face green clearwing. Male is a dark eyed yellow clear. I had hoped they would produce another dark eyed clear. However, they have 4 lutino and one grey with yellow on it's wings. How common is that in one clutch and could they produce a dark eyed clear?

I posted this elsewhere and I think it should have been put here.

A green series clearwing female to a DEC male..The only way you'd get lutinos would be if the father is split for Lutino. I don't know how common it is, I had a pair (neither of which were cinnamon, but the male was split for it) and he had 4 Cinnamon chicks, out of the 5 babies they had.
You'd normally get approximately half lutinos and half not out of the female chicks, and half the males would be split for it and half not..but that is an approximate out of 100 chicks.

A DEC is a Clearflight Pied Recessive Pied, so unless the female is Rec. Pied or split for it, you wouldn't get any DECs, just Clearflight Pieds and all birds split for Rec. Pied.

As i posted earlier, pictures of the parents will clear this up much easier. Also posting pictures of the chicks for us to confirm mutations will help.

If you have the mutations of the parents correct the expected result would be 50% Clear flight pied. You would only get dark eyed clears from this pair if the hen was split for recessive pied. The clearwing mutation of the hen is recessive so it would not appear unless the **** was split for clearwing. If you got lutinos the **** bird must be split for lutino and they would all be female

Todayl, I posted pictures of the lutino chicks and the parents. I posted under pictures and because I haven't done that before I am not sure that was the correct place for them. Anyway you can see the parents.

My pair is raising their first clutch, and 3 out of 4 are lutino. Maybe there's something in the water! :)
(The hen is a blue dom pied and the **** is a normal green).

Isn't that marvelous? It was such a great surprise for me. I could have had them all sold as well as two albinos that were all hatched this year, but I don't want to sell them.
