Hello,

I am new here :) I have been reading on which woods are safe for budgies. A lovely friend of mine has given me two cuttings from their garden (they never spray them and is away from any main roads)

One is off an apple tree which I know is safe.

What about contorted Hazel? It produces nuts and is a twisted version however it is a bit rough (could do with a slight sand down) - Would work amazingly if its safe.

Also how would I prep them - Do I give them a good scrub then pop in the oven?

Hazel is safe, I have some of those twisted hazel branches and they look lovely (I removed all trace of foliage though as wasn't sure about that).
Mine were too long to fit in the oven, so just got a thorough scrub with dilute bleach solution in the bath, numerous rinses and scrubs in clean water and then sun dried - ideally, you would scrub them with vinegar and oven bake them at 180*C for 1-2hrs.
