What a lovely bird, she looks like a fancier breed then mine. I haven't seen any like her around here. Congradulations :)

Help me learn a little bit today? Since we have such a clear
picture of a beautiful opaline gray here, may I ask what
would be different on her if she were mauve? I can't
really tell them apart yet.

Thank you...

What does opaline mean?
I think pictures explain best so here are some for you to compare :) Opalines have more of their body color in their wing and head feathers, and have lighter barring among other things.

Here is a normal non opaline grey to compare to your girl-

And here is a normal non opaline violet cobalt-

And a opaline cobalt violet-

Look at the cheek patches, on a grey they will have grey/blue cheek patches :)

A mauve will have navy/violet cheek patches, I will get a few pics to show you the difference ;)

Thank you so much for taking the time to show the photos.
I've got it now :) That means the little grey hen that got
snatched up before I could buy her was a mauve :(

Ah well, the breeder will bring bringing in more eventually,
and maybe I can get one then :)
