Not to hijack my own thread but I was picking up bird food and millet (the good kind) from our local exotic bird store and they had this lovely and cuddly “baby” macaw they were hand feeding/weaning in their baby room. They let me hold him and he loved the head scratches and ear rubs.

Haha. He did after a few minutes. I sat in a chair on the other side of the room and he flew to my shoulder and took a short nap. It’s kind of like sometimes when you don’t give them attention, they’ll seek you out.

So I got these toy balls at another bird store…I don’t know what the material is called but it’s very soft. Like those soft kebab shredder toys. Bertie loves them.

Nothing like coming home and being greeted by a * squawk * , * flapping of wings * and instant bird on your shoulder followed by becoming a floof ball.

it is! Now if I can get Bertie to talk! I * think * he’s mimicking kissing sounds. Like in the video above. He’ll lean his head in and make a smooch/smacking of lips sound
