Not to disappoint other budgie owners, but I have the cutest, sweetest little bird in the world!

Right now, the little tyke is flipping around in the cage as though normal but we both know the final outcome. Not sure if I have the heart to put it down right yet. If she were squawking in pain, I'll have no choice.
The hardest part of owning a pet is making that final decision. Maybe it would help if you looked at it as a gift to her. Your gifting her by releasing her from a life full of pain. I'm so very sorry you're going through this heartbreaking situation.

The birdie decided to split the scene early Saturday morning. It's totally lonely for the other little tyke. He's been super quiet and inactive.

So sorry for your loss, make sure your give your other bird extra love and attention.
It'll be several weeks but we'll get another bird. It's several hours to get there but we won't leave the little tyke alone. I can tell he's missing the other one. I don't like it much to see him sitting there like that but yet, we'll be taking your advice and showing him lots of love!

Adult males have a bright blue cere, often called "royal blue" with no white. Adult budgies can have either matte brown ceres or more beige, white or even light blue ceres with whitish cast around the nostrils (nares) :)

Ok, well thank you for that. Would you recommend getting a male where one is female or does it make a difference?

Some females will lay infertile eggs even when there is no male around. I would suggest getting another female so you do not have to be concerned about unwanted breeding. Anytime you bring a new bird in you should observe quarantine rules and there is never a guarantee that two birds will get along if housed together so you must also be prepared to house them separately if necessary.

Very good! Maybe that's why when this last one was laying eggs, she or the other one would destroy them. I'll ask for another female when we pick one up. Thanks for the advice!
