Budgie breathing loudly

567 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  FaeryBee
My budgie breathes REALLY loudly right after a flight or after she's startled. She's around 1.5 years old. About the breathing it's like really really loudly. Just like a human would pant. I am taking her to the vet in a few days but I want to know if it's not something really serious or something to take her to the vet over?

I would have her seen by an avian vet, she may have an upper respiratory infection that is made more manifest after flying or when she is afraid, both those situations require extra work by the respiratory system. Have you ever weighed her on a gram scale, birds that are overweight can have respiratory issues because of the extra weight they carry.

I have never weighed her tbh. Didn't really realise how important it can be. Recently found out how much their weight matters and I am looking for a good weighing machine and will probably order one soon.
You need a scale that will register in grams, often scales that are sold for use in weighing food portions are easy to find.
