I have 2 budgies, one male and one female, I think. The female has been chasing the male around and will stand on his tail looks maybe trying to mount? The male cere is definite blue and the females is pink

Hi there and :welcome: to the forums!

Can you post photos of your budgies where the cere is clearly visible, taken in natural light?

Female budgies have brown or light blue to white ceres, depending on whether or not they are in condition. If your "female" has a truly pink cere, then he is most likely male. Only photos can help confirm this!

Meanwhile, you've come to the best place to learn even more about the very best of budgie care practices! Be sure to read through all the budgie articles and "stickies" we have on the forums, to ensure you're up to date on everything. If you have any questions after reading through everything, be sure to as as we'd love to help!

We hope to see you and your budgies soon!

Cheers

We’d love to see a pic of your budgies! By showing your budgies’ ceres in a close and clear pic in natural light, we can determine the gender of your two. As mentioned above, if the one truly has a “pink” cere you most likely have a male.
