What did your vet tell you with regard to the possibility of nerve regeneration?
How did the leg get broken?
Does the vet believe the nerve damage is going to cause long term pain?
Do you have the budgie in a small hospital cage at this time?
Do you have other budgies or just one? What is her name?

A budgie can learn to perch on one leg but accommodations may need to be made to the cage. Some birds have their entire leg amputated.
Provide a couple of platform perches for your bird.

How did your dog get to your budgie?
I'm very sad to hear your bird was injured in this manner. I hope she will have a full recovery.

To ALL Members:
Injuries of this nature are the exact reason why the forum indicates that best practices dictate budgies should be housed in a room in which dogs or cats never have access.
It only takes a second for a serious injury or death to occur.

Each injury is unique, just as every individual is unique.
There is no way anyone on this forum can predict whether or not the never damage your budgie has suffered is reversible.
Asking for other's experiences in the matter is rather like tilting at windmills.

At this time, your best course of action is to carefully follow your Avian Veterinarian's instructions.
Your questions regarding the nerve damage should be directed to the veterinarian who is a professional

We will be praying for Tuco and sending healing energy that she will have a full and speedy recovery.

I'm moving the thread to the Follow-Up section of the forum at this time.
