My budgie was doing fine, we were getting her out frequently and she seemed happy, then about two weeks ago she laid an egg, she started laying down at the bottom of the cage all fluffed up, she was also climbing on the side of her cage and squashing herself between the hanging toys of her cage and the walls of her cage. She also started attacking me. We thought she might have been bored so we tried getting her out but she would just bite us and then fly back and into her cage.

I'm not too sure what is going on, we took out her toy that she was squashing herself behind, but then she started squashing herself behind a perch and the wall of her cage. And maybe it's just me, but it seems like she's been eating a lot more.

If anyone has any idea as to what may be the problem, please do let me know, thank you in advanced.

She's reached sexual maturity and is very hormonal.
I'm assuming that you have just this one budgie, yes?
The squeezing into small spaces is likely her way of simulating a nesting spot.
Follow the steps in this link:
http://www.talkbudgies.com/budgie-breeding/90584-when-we-dont-want-eggs.html
Rearrange her cage and remove anything that may look like a potential nest.
Throw away the egg (& any future eggs laid).
Reduce the protein in her diet (no eggs, more veg).
Reduce her daylight hours to only 8 by covering the cage.
Hopefully the above interventions will throw her out of breeding condition and back to the sweet little girl she was earlier. :)
