Budgie poop having seeds

442 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  DrAsh08
Hello
I have a female budgie and a male budgie , female gave birth to 3 children( all are 40 days + now ). two of which were healthy and one is having problems.
He is eating less and also having diarrhoea from past 5 days I have separated him from rest of the budgies , I was giving him Antibiotic and vitamins and ORS solution as it is summer in India right now.
Today I saw that his poop was having some seeds in it.I think that is because of indigestion , but I also suspect that he might be suffering from Avian Gastric Yeast .
The place where I live does not have Any expert Avian doctors, so I cannot get him checked.

Can someone please help me , and tell me some natural solutions which does not require a pet
☹ I am very tensed 😔😔

You really need to have an accurate diagnosis before treating as giving the wrong or unneeded medication may do more harm than good. There are vets in India that see birds but maybe not within your area, please take a look at this link, scroll down to where it says India Vets and click on the link below it. Thanks for replying , I checked by budgies poop today , and it does not have any seed
But my budgie is looking tired , he is eating and drinking but he sleeps a lot , he is also having wattery poop
Is there any solution for this , or It is necessary to get him checked.
Please reply
Thanks
It is necessary to get he bird checked and a gram stain test should be run on fresh droppings, this will reveal any bacteria, fungal or parasitic issues that may be the cause for the problem. Where did you get the antibiotic you were giving and what is the name of the drug?

Additionally, how large is the cage in which you are housing the female and 3 offspring?
How large is the cage in which you have the male at this time?
Do you have other budgies in addition to these five?

Hello
I was giving them ofloxacin ornidazole tablet , as it is a good digestive tract antibiotic
I am a first year medical student in college, and I got that medicine from a local pharmacy
I was also giving them ORS solution , as they were having loose Motion and it is summer here.

Hello
I have a total of 8 budgies .
My oldest budgies are " Sanaki"(male) and " manki" (female)
They both are roughly of same age around 1.5-2 years.
They both have given birth to 6 budgies ( 3 budgies 6 months earlier , and now 3 more 1-2 month earlier)
I have separated the female from the male because they breed too much 😅
I have 3 cages ,
In one cage I have placed the son and and the father
In the other cage I have placed the mother and 2 female daughters
In the third cage I have placed the babies born recently because they were having some health problems like lose motion , mother sometimes bites the baby not too badly but that may cause stress in babies.
