Hey ya'll!

so i will be traveling by plane out of state for the summer and i need to take my little budgie Belle with me. It says that birds are allowed in the plane cabin, but just wanted to make sure and ask to see if it is safe to take my budgie on a plane, its just a 2hr and 8 min flight.

thank you!

Yes, if the specific airline you are using agrees that you can bring a budgie on-board the airline cabin in an underseat carrier, then it is safe to do so.

However, each airline has restrictions with regard to the type and size carriers they allow.

Generally there is also a charge of $125 to $150 so you need to check directly with your airline to find out EXACTLY what restrictions they have, what the cost will be, etc.

When you board the plane do not agree to put the budgie's carrier in the overhead compartment.
The carrier MUST be put under the seat in front of you.
Carriers with pets that are put in the overhead compartments will not survive.

okay great! just making sure being in an airplane is safe for my budgie. as for the fee i am aware of that. i will call the airlines i will be flying with and ask them about the size of travel cage i can have, i do have a good size that would fit nicely under the seat. and yes thank you! i will NOT allow them to put her in the overhead.
As for what should be in the cage when she's on the plane should i just put a perch and a little food bowl with a little bit of food? i know no water, but will food be okay? the plane really doesn't move that much to spill the food.
thank you again so much for the reply! i just wanted to make absolutely sure that Belle would be fine and the pressure of being up there won't affect her in a bad way.
thanks again!:)

I’d put a length of millet spray in there and also a leaf or two of romaine lettuce, within easy reach if possible.
Best of luck :)

Julia is absolutely correct.
Romaine Lettuce has a high water content which will be beneficial for Belle during the flight.
Either a teaspoon of seed or a 2 inch long piece of millet will be fine for her to have as well.
