Budgies do need to have a good, balanced diet for optimal health. This is usually done by providing your bird with fresh pellets daily and 1-2 tsp of a high-quality seed mix. In addition, your bird should regularly have fresh veggies. Fruit is ok in small amounts once a week but contains a lot of sugar and so should be limited. Occasional treats of millet are ok. There are great resources about diet and nutrition in the stickies on this forum. You can find them here: https://www.talkbudgies.com/314-diet-nutrition/.
Preferred pellet brands that people here use: Roudy Bush, Zupreem, Lefaber, and Harrisons. Often people choose one over another based on what their bird likes. Many people like the fruity Zupreem pellets for their birds, but my bird does not like the fruity pellets and picks around them.
I hope that helps! I am no expert but have learned a lot from reading on this forum.
Best of luck!
