I have noticed a lot of threads recently about what size cage should I have for any number of budgies, and how many budgies should I put in a specific sized cage.
Here is a little quick reference chart.
Simply multiply all 3 of the dimensions (Length x Width x Height) to get your cubic inches.
Obviously the bigger the cage the better. Budgies are going to be healthier and happier with more room.
Just keep in mind wider is always better than taller. Note by FaeryBee: Budgies fly laterally - not vertically.
Note by FaeryBee: It is very important that the spacing between the bars is no more than 1/2" in a cage for budgies.
Minimum size for 1 budgie: go with at least 30"x18"x18"
Volume = 9,720" cubic inches
Minimum size for 2 budgies-----30x18x18"
Volume = 9,720" cubic inches
Minimum size for 3 budgies-----32x18x20"
Volume = 11,520" cubic inches
Minimum size for 4 budgies-----34x18x25"
Volume = 15,300" cubic inches
Minimum size for 5 budgies-----35x18x30"
Volume = 18,900" cubic inches
Minimum size for 6 budgies -----40x18x32"
Volume = 23,040" cubic inches
