Hello everyone!
i got two new budgies on friday.
i know now that one is an Opaline but, i am not sure on what mutations the yellow has.
i know she is pied. she has a very faint olive kind of belly on the bottom, almost a cinnamon colour bars on head and wings and has white cheek patches.
if you would like some more pictures of her or from a different angle etc, let me know. :) i will be happy to show her off a little more. haha!

well, here she is! (also, some pictures i have of her she is snuggled up to my other new female..)
if you like you can chuck in some ideas for names of the two girlies. the boy i have is named Jasper. :)

The yellow one is gorgeous! Actually both of them are but i like the yellow one better. Sorry I can't really help you with their mutation, but I'm still going to guess.
I'm guessing the yellow one is a recessive pied cinnamon and opaline too. I can't really see the light olive that you were saying, and she does looked like a clear body to me HAHA! the other one is a sky violet opaline and a cinnamon too. This are all guesses so I'm sorry if I'm wrong, and I'm sure someone will help you identify them.

thanks! im pretty in love with them! haha
as soon as i saw them, i had to have them! :p

well, i just had someone say they think yellow is a recessive pied cinnamon! so well done to you! ;) though, i didnt think about the opaline part! i believe you are correct! she has almost a 'washed out' kind of look.
my camera isnt too great (using my temperamental iphone).
the olive is extremely hard to see in ANY photos so far!
i will try and get more pictures though. hopefully ones where you can see the pied.

i will also add, you are a very clever cookie!
i didnt take much notice of the blues cinnamon bars as they are darker than the yellows! haha but it looks like you are correct!

thanks heaps Airan! :D

the yellow one is beautiful :)
I think shes a grey-green cinnamon opaline clearbody ..... if she never develops iris rings in the future, she could be a heavily marked recessive pied as well .

i would be so unbelievably lost without you guys on here!
grey-green cinnamon opaline clear-body
i definitely agree with the grey-green cinnamon opaline. i dont know about clear-bodied.
this might sound silly, but, how do i know if she is a yellow clear-bodied?
when i first joined i had a squize through the genetics and back then had no idea about any of it, i know more now but im still just learning about the genetics and such.
she is a recessive pied, that i do know. she and the blue are from different clutches and families but are same age. they are 6 months possibly older. the blue has a visible iris but yellow does not. litterally only about 5 minutes before i read your post i read that recessive pieds dont have a visible iris.

so far it seems miss yellow is winning all the fans! lol

Hello ...seems to be a lot of different opinions on this one..My guess is opaline grey green..no Clearbody and I don't see the recessive pied. The markings are just not right.Looks more like a very well marked Opaline.Recessive pieds should have speratick marking of 15% or less and this is very well defined and uniform wing pattern.....(breeding will determine genetic background)....(. they are 6 months possibly older) I Do see bars from the eyes forward which indicates these are possibly 12 to 14 weeks old.At six months there should be no bars. Not sure when these pic's were taken.Taking birds to a bar head show this Sun so really paying attention to the markings.Less markings is considered a yearling..anything born 2013.Any ways just another opinion. Thanks
Regards

thanks everyone :)
yes! definitely lots of different opinions!
with their age, the breeder told me they are about 6 months old.
when i first saw them i thought they were much younger for the exact reason you said.
but i dont want to say that the breeder is wrong or anything.

yes her wing patterns are almost perfect.
though on her head they arent and on her full sibling they certainly werent.
on her belly she has the olive green going along straight and then on her left it has a little bit that goes up. but i really dont know that much about all the mutations around.

i looked around for bird shows or budgie shows here in cairns and i missed it! i will be trying to find out when the next one is. id love to go!

one day they will get to breed and we will get to see what is hidden in those little genes of theres! but not for some time :)
